She Is For Me Boys Tops Tattersalls Online October Sale
Debut point-to-point winner SHE IS FOR ME BOYS topped proceedings at the Tattersalls Online October Sale when selling for 42,000 guineas to Tom Malone Bloodstock. The Baltimore Stables-consigned five-year-old was a comfortable winner of a mares’ maiden at Toomebridge earlier this month, with the form already being boosted after the runner-up subsequently won at Portrush seven days later.
After the sale, Malone said of the mare: “I’ve seen her plenty in James Doyle’s yard and I liked her when I saw her in February. I saw her in September again and then she went and won first time out. The form was solid and she’s out of a Presenting mare. She jumped for fun and that’s going to be a big asset when she comes to Britain. She has been bought for Jamie Snowden and owners Karen and John Gunn.”
A regular purchaser on the platform, he added: “You can sell an expensive one or a very cheap one online. It’s a very nice way of buying horses when people don’t want to go to the expense of taking them to the sales.”
Malone stocked up further in the sale when purchasing debut hurdles winner CRUDEN for 26,000 guineas from Jessica Harrington’s Commonstown Stables, a buy Malone described as an “absolute snip”. The three-year-old son of TIME TEST was a winner on the Flat earlier in the year and looks to have an exciting career over obstacles following his success over hurdles earlier this month at Cork.
Another lot from the Commonstown Stables consignment to prove popular was the 131 IHRB rated winning hurdler PIGEON HOUSE. The four-year-old gelding has won twice this year, most recently a Class 2 handicap at Ballinrobe in August and sold for 30,000 guineas to JC Racing who were very active buying three lots in the sale.
The busiest yearling offering came courtesy of Barton Stud with their filly by SEA THE STARS who sold for 25,000 guineas to Paragon. Out of a half-sister to Group 1 Prix Vermeille winner and Tattersalls December Mares Sceptre Sessions sale topper TEONA, the February-born filly also boasts Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner AMBIVALENT as her granddam.
Among the broodmares catalogued in the sale, two shared top honours with SUGAR BEAT and PEPPER LANE selling for 11,500 guineas each to Ravenswood and the Qatar-based Mohammed Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah respectively.
The Tattersalls Online October Sale realised a turnover of 319,900 guineas for 49 lots sold, at an average price of 6,529 guineas. Over 300 bidders registered for the sale from over 20 countries including America, Belgium, Britain, France, Ireland, India, Italy, Germany, Serbia, Sweden, The Netherlands, Zambia and from throughout the Gulf region.
Unsold lots remain available and offers can be made through the Make An Offer facility on the Tattersalls Online website. Enquiries are also welcome via email and phone to the Tattersalls Online team.
