Red Maids Tops Tattersalls Online February Sale

Five-time winning mare RED MAIDS topped the Tattersalls Online February Sale when selling to JS Bloodstock and Moigne Combe Stud for 64,000 guineas. A daughter of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, the attractive five-year-old mare is a half-sister to Listed winner and Group 3 runner-up DUNEFLOWER. Consigned by Mark Rimell Racing, she received a notable pedigree update being the half-sister to the dam of exciting Godolphin recruit TREMORGIO who landed his second win from two starts at Kempton last week.

Following the sale, winning bidder Billy Jackson-Stops confirmed plans for the new purchasers:

“She has been bought for new breeders, Moigne Combe Stud, who are well known on the polo scene. It’s a family we can watch improve and, as an Invincible Spirit mare, she could work well with the Dubawi line which has produced the likes of [2000 Guineas winner] Notable Speech.”

A regular participant in the Tattersalls Online Sales, Jackson-Stops was enjoying the flexibility of online when bidding from his Newmarket office and added how he finds the Tattersalls Online platform to be “straightforward and very easy” to use.

The next highest-priced lot in the sale was a Breeding Right to proven Group 1 producing sire ARDAD which realised 23,000 guineas to Childwickbury Stud. The Overbury Stud resident stallion has been represented at the highest level by dual Group 1 winner PERFECT POWER and was also responsible for last season’s leading two-year-old performer COLUMNIST.

Also finding favour in the sale was five-time winner MIDNIGHT LION who realised 21,000 guineas when sold by Goldie Racing to Durcan Bloodstock. Offered with a current Timeform Rating of 82, the son of NATHANIEL received a significant form update since the catalogue was published having finished second at Newcastle just three days before the sale opened for bidding.

The Tattersalls Online February Sale realised a turnover of 343,800 guineas for 49 lots sold, at an average price of 7,016 guineas. Over 300 bidders registered for the sale from over 15 countries including  Britain, Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Serbia, Spain, Norway, Zambia and from throughout the Gulf region.

Unsold lots remain available and offers can be made through the Make An Offer facility on the Tattersalls Online website. Enquiries are also welcome via email and phone to the Tattersalls Online team to tattersallsonline@tattersalls.com.
