Lot 46 NUTHATCH topped the Tattersalls Online February Sale for 34,000 guineas

The Tattersalls Online February Sale was topped by three-year-old last start winner NUTHATCH, who was offered by Jamie Osborne’s The Old Malthouse Stables. The daughter of EXPERT EYE attracted interest from multiple bidders before she was secured for 34,000 guineas by Trebles Holford Farm.

Following the sale, Trebles Holford’s Mike Watson commented on the purchase and future plans for the filly:

"I had seen her first race where she ran fifth at Southwell and thought she ran with a great deal of promise. I followed her next run when she won at Chelmsford and thought there was definitely more improvement to come. No plan has been “hatched” as of yet but we would like to race her on. We may give her a rest following on from her recent win, but we are yet to make a decision. Nothing is certain in this game - it’s early days for her but you always live in hope."

The joint second highest priced lots of the sale both sold for 22,000 guineas, with Robyn Brisland’s Danebury Racing Stables offering the five-year-old SERGEANT TIBBS who was secured by John Flint. This follows Brisland’s successful use of the Tattersalls Online platform having sold WHOZATGIRL in the January Online Sale.

Brisland commented on their experience with selling with Tattersalls Online:

"We've found utilising Tattersalls Online extremely useful, especially being a small yard, as it has allowed our horses to gain good traction from a wide range of buyers. Our owners enjoy selling on it as it's very cost effective in terms of entry fees, no transport costs and minimal staffing costs. There is also great flexibility with Tattersalls Online, for example if a horse happens to not sell, we can run them again next week with minimal stress to all involved."

The second lot to sell for 22,000 guineas was the well-bred ZERO MOSTEL who was offered by Ger Lyons’ Glenburnie Stables and secured by Gordon Watson Bloodstock. The three-year-old son of NO NAY NEVER has only had two starts to date and is a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner UNI.

The Tattersalls Online February Sale realised turnover of 210,700 guineas for the sale of 29 lots, and attracted over 180 registered bidders with a total of 637 individual bids from bidders located in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands and the Gulf region.

Unsold lots remain available for purchase through the Make An Offer facility of the Tattersalls Online platform, with offers and enquiries welcome via email and phone to the Tattersalls Online team.

The next sale on the platform will be the Charity Online Auction of Stallion Nominations in aid of “Giving to Ukraine” and the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, which will take place on 20 - 21 February. The sale has been arranged in conjunction with Oliver St. Lawrence and has gained widespread industry support with over 70 entries. The catalogue for the charity auction will be published on the Tattersalls Online website on Friday, 17th February.
