Moriko De Vassy Tops the Tattersalls Online March Sale at 85,000 Guineas
The Tattersalls Online March Sale was topped by the highly sought after three-time winner MORIKO DE VASSY, who was offered to dissolve a partnership. The highly rated son of COKORIKO attracted the interest of multiple bidders before he was secured by Valentine Bloodstock for 85,000 guineas.
Following the sale Valentine Bloodstock’s Ed Partridge revealed future plans for MORIKO DE VASSY, who will go into training with Ed’s mother-in-law Jane Evans:
“[He] was purchased on behalf of existing owners to form a new partnership. He is a smashing type of horse and his novice hurdle form is very good. Hopefully as he matures and goes back over hurdles he can fulfil the great level of potential he has previously displayed. My mother-in-law Jane Evans also trains the half-brother, blacktype earner MOKA DE VASSY, who it’s planned will run in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival next week, so Jane is well versed with the family and we hope he will go well after joining the stable.”
As a first-time purchaser on the Tattersalls Online platform Ed commended the online sales facility and echoed sentiments from previous purchasers regarding the importance of the media provided by vendors for the online sales:
“It is a great service for vendors to have the facility to sell horses all year round and also for buyers like myself, I could do everything online today. The footage quality is paramount. In this case there was very good footage supplied by Tom Symonds and it worked very well. How you present your horse should be no different online, if you want to sell your horse properly and you are taking the sale seriously, you should present the horse as well as you would at a live sale.”
The next highest priced lot in the sale was secured by Alne Park Stud who went to 12,500 guineas for the highly rated National Hunt mare SACRE COEUR. Offered by Jonjo O’Neill’s Jackdaws Castle, the seven-year-old MONTMARTRE mare is a five-time winner and also ran fourth in the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices’ Chase.
The Tattersalls Online March Sale realised a turnover of 141,300 guineas for the sale of 13 lots at an average of 10,869 guineas. Over 100 bidders registered for the sale from across Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Turkey, Sweden, Italy, Germany and the Gulf region.
Unsold lots remain available and offers can be made through the Make An Offer facility of the Tattersalls Online platform. Enquiries on unsold lots are also welcome via email and phone to the Tattersalls Online team.
