One of three horses offered in the sale by Willie Mullins’ Closutton Stables, the five-year-old mare has already had an impressive career to date, highlighted by a third-placed performance in the Grade 2 Percy Maynard Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse. Closutton Stables were the leading consignor of the day which also saw the 120-rated chaser IRIS EMERY realising 25,000 guineas to trainer Neil King and the Grade 3 winning UNCLE PHIL fetching 14,000 guineas to Chester Williams. Another winning National Hunt performer who proved popular was the Henry de Bromhead consigned SPIRIT OF LEGEND who sold for 26,000 guineas to Nathaniel Barnett Bloodstock and trainer Tim Vaughan. The lightly-raced gelding finished second at Down Royal on his most recent start and had plenty of appeal for new connections. “Given his hurdle form and his form over fences this season, he looks like an ideal type to go hunter chasing for Tim in due course”, said Barnett. “As a regular buyer and seller with Tattersalls Online, we have had some great success, both flat and jumps, and we will keep coming back.” SPIRIT OF LEGEND was one of two lots sold on behalf of Knockeen Stables with the wildcard entry DOONBEG DON selling for 11,000 guineas to the bid of Aled Evans and Welsh-based trainer Alison Thorpe. Following two pleasing sale results, Henry de Bromhead commented: “We are delighted with the prices achieved in today’s sale. The Tattersalls Online sales are a great way to sell horses and it has been a fantastic service from start to finish.” Meanwhile, Patrick Turley’s Kingsfield Stud’s maiden point-to-point winner SHE’S DELIGHTED was another highly sought after offering with Kevin Ross Bloodstock purchasing the young mare at 24,000 guineas. Having finished runner-up on her penultimate start at Kirkistown, the daughter of VADAMOS put that experience to good use when running out a timely seven-length winner at Portrush just 11 days prior to the sale. Amongst the yearlings in the sale, The Castlebridge Consignment offered a filly by Breeders’ Cup winner OSCAR PERFORMANCE who sold for 16,500 guineas to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock. The eye-catching filly is out of a half-sister to the dam of the Listed winning and Group 3 placed sprinter ROGUE LIGHTNING. Another notable result saw the Baroda Stud consigned filly by BATED BREATH, who hails from the family of Group 1 winner BELVOIR BAY, fetching 15,500 guineas to Manister House Stud. The Tattersalls Online April Sale realised a turnover of 284,100 guineas for 36 lots sold, at an average price of 7,892 guineas. Over 230 bidders registered for the sale from over 15 countries including Britain, France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, the U.S.A. as well as bidders from throughout the Gulf region.
