Gleaming Crown Shines Brightest in Tattersalls Online January Sale

GLEAMING CROWN led proceedings at the Tattersalls Online January Sale when selling for 49,000 guineas to Blandford Bloodstock. Consigned by Kiltinan Castle Stud, the three-year-old daughter of WOOTTON BASSETT is out of Listed winner and Group 3 placed GALILEO mare DAZZLING who is a full sister to Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas winner RODERIC O’CONNOR.

Blanford Bloodstock’s Richard Brown confirmed following the sale that GLEAMING CROWN was purchased on behalf of an existing client with current plans that she will be covered this season by Darley’s exciting young sire, PALACE PIER. The unraced filly boasts an attractive pedigree and is a half-sister to Group 3 placed and Group 1 fourth BAJAN GIRL.

Brown went on to say about purchasing the filly via the Tattersalls Online sales:

“The Tattersalls Online sales are a great addition to the industry. Online sales have been hugely successful in Australia and I can see them growing significantly over the coming years in Europe. The buying process is extremely easy and the whole experience is very straight-forward.”

Topping the horses in training section of the sale was recent Galway maiden hurdle winner SCOTCANTOU who realised 36,000 guineas to trainer Henry de Bromhead. Consigned by Eoin McCarthy Racing, the five-year-old son of SHANTOU is an own brother to Listed winning hurdler HEY SUNSHINE and is out of a half-sister to top-class Listed winning chaser DOCTOR KALEO.

Also finding favour among the horses in training was last time out winner ALFA WHITEBURD who realised 30,000 guineas to KNK Bloodstock. Successful in a Class 3 handicap at Newcastle last month, the son of COTAI GLORY was offered by Craig Lidster Racing with a current BHA rating of 82 on the all-weather having been successful four times previously on an artificial surface.

Elsewhere in the sale, a Breeding Right to proven Group 1 sire HARRY ANGEL sold for 23,000 guineas to Quattro Bloodstock. Sire of Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes winner TOM KITTEN, the Darley Stud resident stallion was also responsible for last year’s Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up A LILAC ROLLA.
