The full catalogue for the Tattersalls Online December Sale, featuring the Southern Hemisphere Session, is now published at www.tattersallsonline.com.
122 Lots are listed for auction which takes place on 11th – 12th December including 9 broodmares covered by Champion sire TOO DARN HOT to Southern Hemisphere time. The catalogue comprises 62 lots in and out of training, 38 broodmares, 6 foals, 5 yearlings, 3 stores, 1 point-to-pointer, Breeding Rights to ARDAD, HAVANA GREY and HARRY ANGEL and a 1/50th Stallion Share in PHOENIX OF SPAIN.
The sale is headlined by the inaugural Southern Hemisphere Session, an innovative collaboration between Tattersalls Online and Inglis Digital. The session will showcase an exciting collection of mares in foal on Southern Hemisphere time to Champion Sire TOO DARN HOT. The Classic producing sire has enjoyed an extraordinary start to his career at stud with multiple Group 1 winners from his first crops led by Irish 1000 Guineas winner FALLEN ANGEL and the Australian triple Group 1 winner BROADSIDING.
The sale also provides a rare opportunity to buy a Breeding Right to Europe’s most exciting young sire HAVANA GREY. The Whitsbury Manor Stud resident stallion has made an electric start to his stallion career with 36 Stakes performers from his first three crops of racing age including dual Group 1 winner VANDEEK, Group 2 July Stakes winner JASOUR and multiple Group/Listed performer SHOULDVEBEENARING. Yearlings by HAVANA GREY averaged £97,750 at the sales in 2024, all conceived from a £6,000 stud fee. The son of HAVANA GOLD stood for £55,000 in 2024.
Headlining the 49 horses in training section of the catalogue is the highly progressive three-year-old sprinter FAHRENHEIT SEVEN. Consigned by trainer Mark Usher, the son of SHOWCASING has enjoyed a fruitful 2024 campaign with three wins from his last four starts including success in a Class 4 Handicap over six furlongs at Newcastle last month. The three-year-old gelding scored prior to that on the turf at Epsom and Haydock and is being offered with a current Timeform rating of 92.
Two lightly raced types with plenty of potential for improvement are ONE HORSE TOWN and QAMARI. The Joesph O’Brien trained ONE HORSE TOWN placed third in his only two starts, both over seven furlongs at Dundalk last month. The son of first season sire THREAT is a half-brother to the useful STANFORD and hails from the family of Champion filly RAMRUMA. The James Tate consigned QAMARI was an eye-catching third on debut before finishing a close fourth at Chelmsford during the summer. The three-year-old filly is a half-sister to two winners and is out of the dual Group 3 placed DUBKA.
The sales also offers a host of in-form horses in training including last start winners CAUSIN A COMMOTION, ZAPHEA and bumper winner DESTINATION DUBAI.
Alongside the highly anticipated Southern Hemisphere Session, there are 29 broodmares listed including BACKSTREET GIRL who is a half-sister to this year’s Group 1 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint winner STARLUST. The daughter of SHAMARDAL is out of Group 3 Prix de Saint George winner BEYOND DESIRE and is in foal to Group 2 winning miler SPACE TRAVELLER. Another highlight of the catalogue is SLI PHADRAIGIN, a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed I AM SUPERMAN. The five-year-old daughter of MASTERCRAFTSMAN is offered in foal to exciting young sire CALYX. Also being offered in foal to CALYX is the Acorn Stud consigned QASEEDA. The daughter of POET’S VOICE is a half-sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas third SKARDU, from the family of Group 2 winner SPAIN LANE.
There are five yearlings catalogued for the sale by leading sires ARIZONA, GALILEO GOLD, HAVANA GOLD, OASIS DREAM and PINATUBO. Among the six foals in the sale are progeny of BLUE BRESIL, MAKE BELIEVE and MOHAATHER, as well as three stores catalogued by FALCO and JET AWAY.
