Berkshire Phantom Tops the Tattersalls Online July Sale at 28,000 Guineas
The Tattersalls Online July Sale was topped by the Park House Stables consigned three-year-old BERKSHIRE PHANTOM, who was knocked down to the winning bid of Fionn McSharry for 28,000 guineas. The grey gelding has a current Timeform rating of 88 following two wins this year for trainer Andrew Balding, and the son of EXPERT EYE looks sure to provide further success for his new owner.
Fionn McSharry was a first-time buyer on the Tattersalls Online platform and revealed how she had identified BERKSHIRE PHANTOM as an exciting prospect for her new stable:
“We just went by the information that was online. We have previously followed a few horses through the online sales and although it is a bit different not going to see the horses, it was just knowing that this horse has run consistently and the vet puts trust in that. As a new trainer we are hoping to get some nice runs from him, and we hope he might deliver some Saturday wins. He will come straight into training and we would be aiming to keep him over a similar distance. Andrew Balding knows what he is doing! The horse has some good form at seven furlongs so we will get him home, assess him and see where we get to.”
Regarding use of the Tattersalls Online sales in the future Fionn commented:
“We will definitely use the online sales again. The great thing is because they come around so frequently, with one every month, I am able to say to a new owner that it’s not a long wait before being able to buy. It makes it easy when you have someone who wants to buy to get a horse bought.”
The next highest priced lot in the sale was ANADORA with Anadora Partners coming out on top of the online bidding contest at 17,500 guineas. The four-year-old filly was offered as a horse out of training by Garrettstown House Stables and is out of the Listed placed KELADORA, herself a daughter of Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches runner up KARMIFIRA. The daughter of HAVANA GOLD held a career high official rating of 92 and could prove to be an exciting racing or broodmare prospect for her new owners.
The Henry De Bromhead trained COSMIC INVASION was successfully bought by Kilross Bloodstock for 12,500 guineas. The 80 rated filly by COTAI GLORY has already proven her quality by winning first time out in Chantilly and being placed third this year at Listowel. Another lot to find favour was GANNON GLORY, the speedy son of COTAI GLORY who was a winner only 3 days ago for Richard Fahey’s Musley Bank Stables and was sold under the virtual hammer for 13,500 guineas to Paul Naughton.
The Tattersalls Online July Sale realised a turnover of 127,505 guineas for the sale of 18 lots, at an average of 7,084 guineas. Over 100 bidders registered for the sale from across Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Germany and from multiple further locations across Europe and the Gulf region.
